Accreditation in Austria
New legal requirements (not fully available in English)
Private higher education institutions (private university colleges and private universities) and universities of applied sciences require accreditation as a prerequisite for state recognition. With accreditation of a higher education institution, AQ Austria certifies that they have met the prerequisites for accreditation. Public universities are not subject to an accreditation obligation. Only doctoral programmes of the Danube University Krems, are not exempted from that obligation, they require accreditation pursuant to section 24 HS-QSG.
Accredited private higher education institutions (private university colleges and private universities) and universities of applied sciences as well as accredited degree programmes bear the AQ Austria quality seal.
