Recognition and crediting of non-formally and informally acquired competences - implementation at higher education institutions

Project duration: 2018 - 2020

Based on the previous project, in which recommendations for the design of recognition and crediting procedures were developed in cooperation with eleven Austrian higher education institutions, higher education institutions are supported in implementing procedures and instruments for the recognition and crediting of non-formally and informally acquired competences. For this purpose, individual counselling is provided for the HEIs on site, i.e. directly at the HEIs, and additionally an exchange among the HEIs is made possible at several workshops. The objectives of this project, financed by the BMFWF, include counselling for the participating higher education institutions on implementation processes of recognition and credit transfer, which, in addition to the framework conditions of the respective sector, take into account the specific and individual framework conditions and requirements at the respective higher education institution. In addition to the counselling, which is provided by external experts at the higher education institutions, higher education institutions exchange their own experiences with implementation. Based on the experiences and feedback of the HEIs with the implementation process and on the basis of the consultation meetings, AQ Austria prepares a summary document with the character of a recommendation. This will also address the new legal framework, which is expected to come into force in spring 2021.
