Diversity, equity and inclusion (D-E-I) aim to promote equal opportunities, to utilize the potential of social diversity and to enable participation and access regardless of a person's background. This especially applies to higher education. Quality assurance and enhancement play a decisive role when it comes to systematically anchoring D-E-I in higher education institutions (HEIs) and developing an inclusive setting for research, teaching and learning for all.

The AQ Austria Annual Conference 2023 offers a forum for exchange on D-E-I within Higher Education Institutions from a national and international perspective.

HEI-representatives, educational policy makers and stakeholders will discuss the following questions based on examples of good practice:

  • How can HEIs become places where diversity, equity and inclusion are lived values?
  • What educational policy frameworks do HEIs need for this and how can we ensure that such frameworks are effective?
  • How can HEIs embed diversity, equity and inclusion within their organisational culture and how can they benefit from doing so?
  • How can research, teaching and learning become inclusive?
  • What is the role of students, researchers and partners in this context?
  • What contribution can and should internal and external Quality Assurance make?
